histoires du comté d’essex is a series of musical pieces based on the words / stories of residents of Nicolas’ home region – Windsor and Essex County in southwest Ontario. It is collection of chamber works for cello, synths, piano, drums, and voice. All the words are sampled or excerpted from interviews Nicolas made in October 2012 with Windsor and Essex County residents. It is a musical portrait of a local dialect, a regional reality, and of everyday life…
