January 25th, 2025 Autocorrect, Rough Cuts @ Dance Days, Dance Victoria. Choreographies by Vitor Freitas and Lee Ingram. Directed by Kemi Craig. Live music performances by singer-songwriter Zoe-Blue Coates and cellist Jane Chan. The choreographies draw from habitual movements submitted by the public during Kemi Craig’s tenure as City of Victoria artist-in-residence. This collection of daily gestures reflects how we adjust, adapt, accommodate, strive for perfection, and navigate the desire for safety. The work highlights the tension between the constant influx of societal norms and expectations, which shift suddenly and rapidly, and the ritualization of correction.

September 28, 2024 2-3 p.m. Autocorrect Dance Performance Autocorrect is a dance performance composed of movements submitted by members of the public who responded to the invitation to share a gesture or common movement from their life showing how we strive for safety, perfection, adaptation, fitting in or making ourselves or others more comfortable. The movements illustrate how our internal and external experiences influence each other.
