Jane Chan (she/her)

I would like to respectfully acknowledge the Lekwungen speaking people, also known as the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations communities on whose traditional territories I currently live and create music. I am thankful to be here presently and seek to better understand how I can honour this land and its people.

My practice as a musician includes interpretation, collaboration, improvisation, and composition. I am active as a performer, teacher, and recording artist. I love interdisciplinary projects and have made music for theatre, dance, and poetry.

As a cultural producer and collaborator, I emphasize relationships and listening in my work, and I seek out projects that nurture community, dialogue, and diversity.
